David Garcia will be key note speaker and master class director at this years Dutch National Water, Housing & Environment Congress in Rotterdam, Wednesday the 27th of September.

“Led by David Garcia we will work on one of the most challenging design problems in the Netherlands: transforming the area around Rotterdam-the Hague Airport to a flood shelter.

With the assistance of Peter Minnema (Dura Vermeer) + Rutger de Graaf (DeltaSync) + people to be determined. With multi-layer security as a starting point a public-private consortium will transform the 200-acre area around Rotterdam-the Hague Airport into a flood shelter, where the inhabitants of the Rotterdam Rijnmond region will find a safe haven in the case of flooding. In the business case the everyday use is combined with its use in case of emergency. Also a rescue and relief emergency cluster of entrepreneurs, government agencies and knowledge institutes is established to develop innovations and to rapidly respond to flood disasters worldwide ” WWR 2012
